Gerald Duane Ward “Scarecrow”, 56, of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the Kansas City Hospice House. He was born July 15, 1956 inBoone County, MO to Samuel and Beverly (Davis) Ward. He was reared by his father and step-mother, Sophie Ward in Independence, where he graduated from Truman High School.
Scarecrow’s passion was farming and wrenching. He worked for Vogt Farms inIndependence for the majority of his working years and was also an accomplished mechanic.
Survivors include his fiancée, Pam Evans of the home; two sons, Brandon and Ryan Evans, both of Independence, MO; six siblings and four grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Scarecrow’s life form 1-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs, where a Sharing of Memories will be held at 2:30 p.m.
I am going to miss Jerry, we had some good chats about Jesus on the phone. No more pain now Scarecrow.
