Frank Gilbert, 66, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital with his daughter, D.J. by his side. Frank was born June 18, 1953 to Robert L. and Rose A. (Wehling) Gilbert in Denver, CO.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam Era.
Frank will forever be remembered as a loving Papa, Grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. He was the handyman who could repair or fix anything; family, friend or neighbors could always count on Frank to be there to help. He was a frugal man who enjoyed the simple things in life: spending time with family, cooking, bar-b-queing, fishing, and collecting old or broken objects to re-purpose. He was a mentor to his two grandsons. Frank will be dearly missed by everyone.
He is survived by his three children: Henry “John” Dieckman, III; daughter, Daviann “D.J.” Gilbert, II and Joshua Robert Gilbert; two loving grandsons: Raedyn Gauge Edwards and Korbin Reid Edwards; five siblings: Antonette Rose “Toni” Gilbert; Linda Roberta Boyle; David Robert Gilbert; Claudia Ann Gilbert and Teresa Mary Stienbach; two nieces: Rosie Gilbert and Kristen Pace; three nephews: Donald Robert Boyle; Michael Christopher Boyle and Jeffrey Daniel Boyle; and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Daviann (Bloyes) Gilbert and both parents.
The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville, MO. A Sharing of Memories celebrating Frank’s life will commence at 2:30 p.m. Memories of Frank and condolences to the family may be shared at meyersfuneralchapel.com
Frank also had a loving heart; it was important to him and his family to honor his wishes to be an organ donor. Frank’s gift of life will continue to help countless people and their families. Midwest Transplant Network (mwtn.org).

I am so sorry to hear of Frank’s passing. Living so far apart we didn’t see each other much, but he will be missed. We visited at Uncle Jesse Gilbert’s funeral, wish we had had more time. You are all in our prayers.

Sorry for you and your families loss. I did not know him but I know his grandson and that tells me a lot. Raedyn
has a heart of gold, as I am sure his grandpa did too.
I know that grandparents hold a special place in our hearts. I hope Rae will share a wonderful story about his grandfather with me when he returns to school. So sorry for your loss. It sounds like he was a wonderful man and has passed that on to Rae.
I have known Frank for quite awhile. Great quy and a heck of a maintenance tech. We worked together and became good friends. My thoughts and prayers to the family, Especially the gra dchildren.

Frank was one of a kind . He cared about his kids and grandkids more than life itself. He will be missed by many.
