Rev. Dr. Edwin Kaburu Mwirabua, 70, a resident of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully Friday, October 20, 2023, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO. He was born on January 1, 1953, to Elijah and Naomi (Kanyua) Mwirabua in Kenya, East Africa.
Edwin was united in marriage to Caroline Kaburu on January 1, 1994, in Kanyakine, East Africa. He was currently working in direct care for Caring Hands and Hearts of Kansas. Edwin was a chaplain for the University of Kansas Medical Center and a Presbyterian Reverend. He enjoyed reading, learning, taking walks, running, cracking jokes, serving others, and preaching. Above all, he cherished spending time with his beloved family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Caroline Kaburu of Blue Springs, MO; children, Kageni Kaburu of Meru Kenya, Makena Kaburu of Germany, Dr. Wanja Kaburu of Mombasa Kenya, Mutugi Kaburu, and Nkatha Kaburu of Blue Springs MO, USA. Grandchildren; Debarl Murithi and Liam Amani. Son-in-law; Oscar Andere of Germany, in-laws; Dr. & Mrs. Arthur Andere. Siblings; late Timothy Nabea, the Late Titus Mwirabua, Harriet Njeru, Karimi Kiruja, Jane Nkonge, John Mwirabua, the late Obadiah Murungi, all of Kenya, Dickson Mwirabua of USA, Javan Mwirebua of Kenya, and Mukwamugo Kinyua of chogoria, Kenya. Uncle to many. Edwin is preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends will celebrate Reverend Mrabua’s life at the Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in Blue Springs, Missouri on Friday, November 3, 2023. The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Rev. Dr. David Nzioka will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery, in Blue Springs, Missouri. Memories of Edwin and condolences may be shared at Meyersfuneralchapel.com.
