Dorothy Rena Porter, 92, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO and parishioner of St. Therese Catholic Church passed away Friday, December 2, 2022 at the NorthCare Hospice House. Dorothy was born November 27, 1930 to Christopher and Florence (Wojciechowski) Chrestoff in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dorothy was united in marriage with John Neil Porter Jr. on October 6, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio. From this union they had four children: Kim, Pamela, Teresa and John “Jack”.
Dorothy was very devoted to her church and family. Family was everything to her: their interests were her interests and she truly loved being a part of their extracurricular experiences. She mastered all types of card games, sudoku and word puzzles.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband John Neil Porter Jr., both parents and a brother Chris. She is survived by her loving family:
Kim Nichols and her husband Rodger; Kim’s daughters: Ashley (Robert): their children: Braxton and Kinley; Sarah (Matt); their children: Scout, Sloan and Campbell.
Pamela Evans and her husband Paul: their children: Paige (Pat); children: Blake, Kellan and Quinn; and son, John Paul.
Teresa Keller and her husband Jeffrey; their daughters Brittany (Michael) and Rachel and partner Brandon; and son, Jeffrey Scott, Jr.
John “Jack” Porter and his fiancé Wendy: Jack’s children: Jaclyn and Nicholas.
A sister, Thelma; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at St. Therese Catholic Church 7207 N.W. Highway 9 Kansas City, MO. John Neil and Dorothy Rena will reunite in a Committal Service and Urn placement immediately following Mass at Resurrection North Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. I am so sorry for your loss. I know what an incredible force your mom was in your families lives. She was a loving example to everyone, on how to love and respect each other. She will be so missed by many especially you all. I will be thinking about you as you lay her to rest.
