They were united in marriage on August 12, 1962 at Waldo Ave Baptist Church in Independence, MO. Don worked for General Motors for 30 years before his retirement in May of 1991. Following his retirement from General Motors, Don worked for Dr. Vinyl Inc. for 17 years retiring in June of 2008. He was a member of Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs. Don touched many lives in his 82 years here on earth. Through church, work, and Boy Scout Troop 282. He was an Eagle Scout, and received his Warrior “Big Golden Image” in 1977 in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Don passed his love for scouting to his children, grandchildren, and now his great-granddaughter. He loved to cook, nothing fancy but it was always wonderful. While his daughter, Sarah was in Lutheran High School, Don came up with the perfect chili recipe that is still used today in school and in scouts. He and his friend Ken Wagner took classes in Chinese cooking and friends and family often got together for one of their famous meals. Don worked many football and baseball games earning money for Messiah Lutheran Grade School and High School and Scout Troop 282. He loved traveling in their motor home and going on ocean cruises with Janell, visiting many of the Caribbean Islands. Don was a giver, if you ever needed help he was the one to ask especially his “girlfriends”. He enjoyed square dancing and playing cards. Don was very protective of his loved ones both family and friends.
