Donald E. Dreis, 87, of Gladstone, MO passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza. He was born to Fred and Mary (Morris) Dreis on November 25, 1926. They preceded him in death. Don graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, MO and was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He retired from Ford Motor Company where he worked in the management division. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was proud to be a member of the Shriners. Don’s greatest enjoyment came from being around his family and friends. He was united in marriage to Wilma G. Magner on October 8, 1948 in Kansas City, MO. They made Gladstone their home for over 50 years.
In addition to his wife, Gerry, survivors include a daughter, Lin Dreis of Kansas City, MO; son, David B. and Tacea Dreis of Kansas City, MO; sister, Norma Bell of Denver, CO; granddaughter, Emily Kay Anderson of Seattle, WA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy, Delores, and Juanita.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza for the wonderful care provided to Don.
The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville, where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. A committal service with military honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd. Leavenworth, KS. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Shriners Hospitals for Children, St. Louis and may be left in care of the funeral home.
