Funeral arrangements for Delbert Carpenter are set for Saturday, August 26, 2023. His family will receive family and friends from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St, Blue Springs, MO. A graveside service will follow at the Blue Springs Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Coloma Baptist Church. Delbert Gene Carpenter, 80, of Independence, MO passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO. He was born January 27, 1943, to George and Pearl (Guss) in Barton County, MO.
Delbert was united in marriage to Jo Ann O’Neal on February 20, 1971, in Coloma, MO. He worked as a machine operator for Safeway and as a custodian for the Blue Springs School District. Delbert was Baptist by faith. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and working on cars. Delbert cherished spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jo Ann Carpenter of Independence, MO; daughters, Karla Deatherage and husband Don of Lee’s Summit, MO, Wendy Laycock and husband Tim of Lee’s Summit, MO; grandchildren, Kailey and husband Frank, Cameron, and Brice all of Lee’s Summit, MO; brother, George Carpenter of Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Ella Long of Independence, MO. Delbert is preceded in death by his parents; 6 sisters, and 1 brother.
