Deborah Ann King, 58, of Excelsior Springs, MO passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 with her family by her side at Liberty Hospital. Deborah was born December 11, 1964 to David and Marylin Faye (Coker) Hammond in Parkville, MO.
She is a 1983 graduate of Oak Park High School; and continued her education at Park University and earned her bachelor’s degree in legal studies and Political Science.
Deborah will be remembered as a caring, loving woman with a heart of gold and was always giving back to the community. Her time spent as a volunteer and contributing in various positions with multiple administrations speaks volumes of who she was. Deborah was a member and former Vice-President of the Parkville Rotary Club; she received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award; District Chair for Roteract and Interact; Co-chair with the Park Hill Community Drug Task Force; Co-chair for South Platte County Ambulance District; Vice-Chair with the Platte County Sewer District; President of Park University Political Science Club; Park University Roteract; a member of Phi-Theta Kappa; a member of the National Honors Society at Park University. This list is only a snap-shot of Deborah’s involvement within her professional life.
After her death, Deborah continued giving to others; she was also an organ donor.
Deborah is survived by her best friend, the love of her life and soulmate of 21 years; her husband Chris King; a son, Kenneth Ray Harris. She was preceded in death by her mother and a sister, Julia Dianne Hammond.
