Dean Clarey Henricksen, 73, of Parkville, MO passed away July 16, 2015 at the St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza. He was born September 11, 1941 in Columbus, NE to Clarey and Esther (Lawson) Henricksen. Dean graduated from Newman Grove High School and earned his Business degree from Dana College in Blair, NE.
Dean spent 25 years in the banking business and then 25 years in commercial real estate. His banking career began in Nebraska and ended in Platte County, where he retired as President of the former Laurel Bank of Platte County. He then worked in commercial real estate, where he retired as President from Brown & Co. Dean was a very devoted civic leader and had a passion for helping others. He served on the Board of Directors for numerous organizations over the years and in 1987 was named Citizen of the Year by the Business and Professional Association of Platte County. Dean was influential in helping bring St. Luke’s Hospital to the Northland and was a big supporter of the St. Luke’s Health System. Dean was an active member of the KCI Rotary Club and was a proud Paul Harris Fellow.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Lou Henricksen. Survivors include his loving wife, Kathryn Henricksen of the couple’s home in Parkville; and a son, Kent Kester Henricksen of Kansas City, MO.
A celebration of Dean’s life will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville. The family will receive friends from 2:30-4:00 p.m. and a Sharing of Memories time and small service will commence at 4:00 p.m. A committal service and burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the St. Ansgar Church Cemetery in Rosenborg, NE.
