David Michael Wagener, 65, of Blue Springs, MO passed away November 1, 2014. He was born January 14, 1949 in Independence, MO to David and Peggy (McDowell) Wagener. Mike grew up in Independence and graduated from William Chrisman High School, where he lettered in baseball.
Following high school, Mike joined the United States Navy, where he was stationed in San Diego and served overseas during the Vietnam War. He married Adrienne Lee Franksen on March 18, 1972. They celebrated 40 years of marriage in 2012. Adrienne preceded Mike in death later that same year.
Mike spent his entire working career in the plastic moldings business and recently retired from Central Missouri Plastics in January of this year. Mike was an accomplished fly fisherman and spent many weekends at Roaring River State Park with Aid, family and friends.
In addition to Adrienne, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ann Wood. Survivors include his daughter, Nikki DeMint and husband Todd of Parkville, MO and their children, Evan and Avery; his son, Shane Wagener and wife Suzanne of Blue Springs, MO and their children, Kiley, Kole and Kaden.
The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs. A funeral service celebrating Mike’s life will follow at 11:00 a.m. Private family graveside services with military honors will be held at the Buckner Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project.
