David graduated high school in Princeton, IN and later served in the United States Air Force, where he was a navigational tech and instructor. He spent the majority of his working career as a service manager for Avery Dennison, a paper product manufacturer. David was very devoted to his Lord, family and community. He was a long-time member of St. Therese Parish, where he formerly served on the school board. David served as Ward III Alderman for the City of Riverside from 2006-2012. He volunteered for many clubs and organizations including, St. Vincent dePaul Society, Boy Scouts, Knights of Columbus and he was a lifetime member of the American legion and V.F.W. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, coaching his girls softball teams and boating at both Weatherby Lake and Table Rock Lake.
He married Carolyn Louise Wilson on June 12, 1965 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO. In addition to Carolyn, survivors include their four children, Jennifer Adams and husband, Jerry, Stacy Pennington, Cynthia Barton and husband, Tom and David J. Hurt (DJ) and wife, Emily, all of the Northland; a sister, Cheryl Ginder of Olney, IL; eight grandchildren, Lorraine and husband, Daniel, Thomas, Rachel, John, Matthew, Malissa, Abigail and Daniel; two great grandchildren, Maeve and Daniel.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2016 at St. Therese Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Cisetti and Rev. Randolph Sly presiding. A committal service will follow at Resurrection North Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the United States Air Force. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, at St. Therese Catholic Church, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Therese Parish or NorthCare Hospice and may be left in care of the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville.
