Daniel was born May 30, 1930 in Independence to John and Mary (Masters) Carr. On July 23, 1953 he was united in marriage to Mary (Fisbach) Carr. He was a mechanic in the United States Marine Corps and stationed in Korea. He worked as a mail sorter for Union Station for 27 years and retired. Dan was hands down the best mechanic, lived by a strict code of honesty and integrity, loved spending time in the garage and outside, and with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Dana Carr; brothers, Billy and John Carr; sisters: Mary Banks, Diane Karuse, and Virginia Crowder; and great grandson, Sebastian.
He is survived by his son Daniel Carr of Oak Grove, MO; sister, Ann “Tilly” Friend of Creighton, MO; grandchildren, Daniel Carr of Oklahoma and Casey Carr of Joplin, MO; and great grandchildren, Kaydence and Elijah.
I am grateful for the life of Mr. Carr. Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.
Dan Carr Sr was a father figure to me. My earliest memories are of playing in his fields and fishing in his ponds. He hired us to bail hay with him in the summer months though he probably didn’t really need our help. I feel it was his way instill good values and work ethic and to give the neighborhood a break from all us young boys. A proud marine and hard working mid-westerner of the highest regard.
