Clifford Caryl Caton, known to most by Caryl, was born November 14, 1928 to Clifford Claude and Virginia Caton. He grew up in the Blackwater and Boonville Mo area, graduating from Blackwater, Mo in 1946. Following graduation he moved to Kansas City to work construction as a heavy equipment operator.
Caryl married the love of his life on Dec 21 950. They were married for 46 years. After a successful career in sales with Shick, Owens Plastics and Borg Warner, Carol and Caryl opened a company that manufactured furniture in 1976. They operated Blue Springs Furniture until Carol’s death in 1997. Caryl has always loved trucks. He expanded his involvement with them by driving full time for his son’s company after the furniture plant closed. He continued to drive, at least occasionally, until 2013. He loved his birds, his squirrels and his dogs. He spent much of his life in the outdoors in a variety of pursuits, including quail hunting, backpacking and bicycling. Nothing was more important in his life than his family.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Tharp, wife, Carol Caton, his sister, Suzanne Stuesse as well as his parents. Caryl is survived by his son, Clifford Caryl Caton Jr. and wife Donna of Napoleon MO; two daughters, Christy Caton and Carolyn Caton both of Blue Springs MO; Six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren.
Clifford Caryl Caton was reborn into the presence of the Lord on February 25, 2017.
The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2017 at First Christian Church 701 N.W. 15th St., Blue Springs, MO. Memorial service will start at 3:00 p.m., at the church. Inurnment will follow at the Blue Springs Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
