He retired from the United States Army as a Sgt. 1st Class where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era and the Persian Gulf War. Carl was decorated with the following medals, badges and ribbons during this period: Army Achievement Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal (4th Award); Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (2nd Award); Army of Occupation Medal-Germany; National Defense Service Medal with BSS Humanitarian Service Medal; NCO Professional Development Ribbon. Carl also served in the Kansas Army National Guard for 18 years.
Carl spent the majority of his working career at Allied Barton Security, but was also the owner/resume writer of his home based small business, CJ’s Quality Resumes.
The family would like to thank everyone at Kansas City Hospice for all of their loving care and support during Carl’s illness.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Karen S. Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Linda Marie (Niemeyer) Peterson of Kansas City (North), MO; numerous nieces and nephews and their spouses; and his cat, Boo.
The Visitation will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville, MO. A Celebration of Carl’s Life will immediately follow from 6:30 – 7:00 p.m. at the chapel. A Committal Service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Please omit sending any flowers. The family has requested Memorial Contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project and left in care of Meyers Funeral Chapel.
