Bonnie Jo Simmons, 75 years of age, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO (formerly of Omaha, Nebraska) passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 16, 2022. Bonnie was on hospice in Kansas City at this time. She was born October 27, 1947 to Donald and Margaret Williams in Omaha, NE.
As a child and throughout her enter life, Bonnie always put God first. Her parents raised her and her siblings at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Omaha. Rev. Brown made a significant impact on all of their lives. Bonnie raised her young children at Covenant as well.
Growing up Bonnie was an avid dancer! She kept the love of dance in her heart throughout her life. In her leisure time, she enjoyed going for long car rides in the country and seeing wildlife. She will always be remembered for having a positive outlook, fun & spontaneous personality, contagious laugh, and leaving a lasting impression on every person she ever encountered.
Her goal in life was to be the BEST “BIG GRANDMA” she could be. She accomplished this goal without question…. just ask her grandchildren! Spending time with her family was always a first priority.
Bonnie was preceded in death by both of her parents. She is survived by her son, Robert “Bob” Baughman (Stephanie); a daughter Barbara Baughman; three grandchildren Zachery Handford; Victoria Handford Fjaerestrand (Christoffer); Elizabeth Baughman; seven siblings: Janet Marvin (J.D.); Janice Adams; Roberta Samson; John Williams; Donald Williams (Cande); Delora Santistevan; Ricky Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bonnie’s remains will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery, in Omaha, NE, on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 9:30am. A Memorial Service will follow at Covenant Presbyterian Church at 11:00am. A true “Celebration of Life” will be held at The Cabin, lower level party room, on Tuesday December 6th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Bonnie was a classmate of mine from kindergarten to high school. She was was always so lively and joyful. She always had a big smile for everyone. She will be missed.

Bonnie was so full of life & so much fun to be around! She was always the light of the party! I have so many great memories with her & Barbi to last a lifetime! She will truly be missed but never forgotten! I hope you are at peace now flying with the angels I love you Bonnie!

Bonnie was a person who cared about others. She was a ray of sunshine wherever she went. We went to high school with Bonnie at North. She was a talented dancer and was a beauty inside and out. She will be missed but know that she is sitting with the Lord now in his Kingdom and free from pain.
Aunt Bonnie was such a joyous woman. I will miss her dearly. I can’t seem to find the words… dance on!
