Billy “Bill” Joe Evans, 78, a resident of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully Thursday, June 8, 2023 at his home. He was born January 30, 1945 to Wayne and Wanda (Brundage) Evans in Kansas City, MO.
Bill graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1963. He was united in marriage to Connie Boyer on March 22, 1969 in Olathe, KS. Bill served his country proudly in the United States Army, where his rank was E3P, the big red one and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal before being honorably discharged from his service. He attended the First United Methodist Church in Blue Springs. Bill was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed bowling, golfing, throwing darts, and Wii bowling. Above all Bill cherished his family especially his grandchildren.
Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Connie Evans of Blue Springs, MO; daughter, Laura Martin (Christopher) of Blue Springs, MO; son, William Evans (Lana) of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren, Jenna Martin, Hailey Martin, Grant Evans, Lucas Evans all of Blue Springs, MO; brother, Rodney Evans (Sandy) of Shawnee, KS; sister, Rose Ellen Connor (Dan) of Scottsdale, AZ. Bill is preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Lynn Evans; and his parents.
Memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs. A committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Children’s Mercy or Wayside Waifs. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs, MO.
