Betty M. Rush, 91, of Lake Tapawingo, MO passed away May 13, 2013 at the Villages of Jackson Creek Independence, MO. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel, Blue Springs, MO. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial in Floral Hills Cemetery. Betty was born May 1, 1922 in Appleton, MN the daughter of O.W. and Nellie (Seeker) Spencer. She was a homemaker, attended 1st United Methodist Church of Blue Springs, the Lake Tapawingo Women’s Club, Job’s Daughters and the Moose Club. She was preceded in death by her daughter Betsy Waldren, brother Wendal Spencer, sister Edith Anderson and three husbands Gordon (Bud) Ackley, William Foley and Leo Rush.
Betty began raising their four B’s family in Brainerd, MN until they moved to KC , Mo until the loss of her first husband, when she moved her four B’s to Raytown where she met her second husband. When they became empty nesters, they moved to Lake Tapawingo, where they created a wonderful home and gathering environment for so many family and friends, until the loss of her second husband. She later married a friend and neighbor at the lake, who took wonderful care of her when she had a stroke only about a year later. Although unable to walk for several years, she still has been surrounded by so many family, extended family and friends who have stayed so active in her life. Good-bye Betty Mae. Survivors include her brother Charles Spencer of Brainerd, MN; sons Gordon Ackley of Jefferson City, MO.; Bernard Ackley of Minneapolis, MN; Scott Foley of Springfield, MO, Joe Rush of Lake Tapawingo; daughters Bunny Drummond of Blue Springs, MO; Jeanne Rush of Lake Tapawingo, Nancy Fry of Blue Springs, MO; nineteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
