Bettie Nelson, 81, of Grain Valley, MO passed away September 30, 2012 in Oak Grove MO. Funeral Services for Bettie will be 2:00 pm Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St., Blue Springs, MO. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Burial to follow at Blue Springs Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Bettie may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Kansas State School for the Deaf 450 E. Park St. Olathe, KS 66061. She was born July 9, 1931 in Huntingdon, TN to Hugh and Sophie (Crews) Williams. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grain Valley, and The Eastern Star of Blue Springs. She was also a member of the Shrinettes. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two husbands, Troy Cunningham and James Gribble.
Bettie is survived by her husband, James Nelson of Grain Valley, MO; sons, Steve Cunningham of Oberlin, OH, Steve Edward Gribble of Olathe, KS; daughters, Barbara Alpaugh of Vermillion, OH, Judy Cunningham of Fayetteville, GA, Shirley McGuire of Fayetteville, GA; brothers, Charles Williams of Chicago, IL, Weldon Williams of Milan, TN, Ray Williams of Lafayette, TN; sister Geneva Mullins of Winter Park, FL; Step-daughters, Sara Ann Lemons of Blue Springs, MO, Karin Martinez of Omaha, NE; step-son Terry Nelson of Independence, MO; and many grandchildren.
