Betsy Lehr, 90, a Northland resident in Kansas City, MO passed away October 23, 2014, at her home. She was born November 27, 1923 in Milwaukee, WI to Almond C. and Verla (Hudson) Lemm. Betsy was educated in Milwaukee. She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol during the war. She married Lawrence R. Lehr on May 11, 1946 in Milwaukee. They moved to Washington, D.C. and she worked as a secretary at the Pentagon. They returned to Milwaukee and lived there until the family moved to Kansas City in 1962.
She was a longtime, very active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, participated in bible study classes at the church and was a member of WELCA. She enjoyed spending time with her family and church family. She loved to travel.
Mr. Lehr preceded her in death on February 16, 1992. In addition to Larry, she was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Glenn Lehr. Survivors include two sons, Roger Lehr and wife, Kay of Kansas City, MO and David Lehr and wife, Deborah of Wichita, KS; a daughter-in-law Debra Lehr of Gypsum, CO; a brother, Jack Lemm of Oklahoma City, OK; 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1-3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, where a memorial service celebrating Betsy’s life will follow at 3:00 p.m. A private family committal service will be held at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Parkville. Memorial contributions are suggested to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or NorthCare Hospice and may be left in care of the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville.
