Barbara K. Carney, 79, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO and a member of Lift Church KC went to be with her LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Barbara was born November 30, 1942 to Ardys and Elizabeth (Salmon) Shradar in Omaha, Nebraska.
Barbara was a devote Christian who loved Jesus and her family. She will be remembered for her artistic style of oil painting and writing stories. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing her stories with others. She was a very loving and giving person helping others when they needed a helping hand. She loved gardening, especially colorful and very fragrant flowers along with vegetables. Barbara was looking forward to writing and illustrating animal stories in a book for others to read.
She had a strong interest in politics, the United States Constitution and was a Conservative in her political beliefs.
Barbara retired from her teaching career in 2008. She taught her middle school students for one year at Second Creek Christian School and 19 years at Platte County High School in Platte City, MO where she taught English and History. She loved her students and was an advocate for them.
Barbara was preceded in death by both parents. She is survived by her loving husband Charles Carney; two daughters: Stephanie Carney; Cathy Hubble (Mike); a grandson Logan Hubble; a brother Robert Shradar (Bibiana); three nephews: Rob, Andy and Jon.
A Memorial Service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Meyers Northland Chapel 401 Main Street Parkville, MO. A Committal Service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, October 21, 2022 at Leavenworth National Cemetery 150 Muncie Road Leavenworth, KS.
