Barb graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City and she attended UMKC, where she studied accounting. She spent her entire career in accounting, most recently for The Hilton President, an upscale hotel in Kansas City. She had a deep love for both her Lord and her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed counted cross-stitch and sewing. When her boys were younger, she made several of their Halloween costumes. She enjoyed volunteering her time, and was active in Hillcrest Ministries, where she served as a budget counselor. She was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award by Hillcrest in 2004. She also volunteered for the children’s PTA, Cub Scout summer camps and so much more. She also looked forward to traveling and spending time with her family.
She married Stephen Lee Campbell on September 19, 1981 in Kansas City. In addition to Stephen, survivors include two sons: Caleb Campbell (Melissa) and Josh Campbell, both of Kansas City, MO; one brother and one sister.
All services will be held at the North Cross United Methodist Church at 1321 NE Vivion Rd, Kansas City, MO 64118 (816-452-2939) on Thursday, September 1, 2022. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. with the Funeral Service following at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow with private urn placement in the Deister Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hillcrest Ministries and may be left in care of the Meyers Northland Chapel, 401 Main St., Parkville MO 64152.
My friend, my confidant. My heart goes out to Steve, Caleb and Josh. She fought a good fight. I will always remember her and our fun times.
My one and only sister is now free from pain, and in the loving realm of Our Father in Heaven, as well as with our parents, and other ancestors. May Stephen, Caleb, & Josh be comforted in Love throughout this time of sorrow.
We wish we could be there with you.
💔
Stephen, Caleb and Josh while this is a time of great personal loss, I pray you will be able to rejoice in the assurance that your wife and mother is in the arms of Jesus, free from pain!
May God bless you and grant you peace in the days ahead!
Barbara was such a lovely caring person. Her family was important to her, but she also was involved in her church and community. When her son, Caleb, married into our family, she embraced all of us with enthusiasm. We loved including her and her husband, Stephen, in our family dinners. She was so easy to talk to. We will miss her.
Steve, Caleb & Joshua
My heart goes out to you all.
She will be remembered as a wonderful happy friendly person.

Stephen, Caleb and Josh:
I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s sad that so many of our Saunders clan can’t attend the services, including myself. I pray that you all can find peace in BJ’s passing, and comfort in knowing she is in our Heavenly Father’s loving arms. What a glorious reunion awaits us all.
Love,
Cheryl Saunders Webb
With deepest sympathy
Caleb, Josh, and Steve,
We will miss her very much, our hearts are with you.
Camping, family gatherings, Caleb and Melissa’s wedding, great memories we have forged together.
She was a strong smart woman who loved her family with all her heart. We were blessed to know her and the impact she made in our lives.
Forever and always…
Barbara is truly one of the most genuinely kind and Christian women I have known. Our history went so far back to our young days with her Aunt Norma and Mason, my father. She fought long and valiantly, now may she rest in peace. Prayers for Stephen, Caleb and Josh.
