Barbara Ann Durbin, 64, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Barbara was born November 4, 1958 to John Warren and Sharon Ann (Edlin) Hicks in Kansas City, MO.
She enjoyed camping, riding horses, playing with her four legged-furry Huskie babies, spending time with her grandchildren and family were always the highlight of her day. Barbara will forever be remembered as a kind, caring, loving mother, grandmother, sister and best friend.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Michael Alfred Durbin, both parents John and Sharon Hicks and a sister, Kim Hicks. She is survived by a daughter Chastity Lynn Hicks (Ryan Holcomb); a son Russell Lawrence Lewis; six grandchildren: Justin Chastain; Khloie Holcomb; Ryan Loyd; Jadyn Lewis; Eli Lewis and Beau Lewis; three great-grandkids: Karter Loyd; Kinzley Loyd and Kennedy Loyd; five siblings: David Rapp; Laura Rapp; Johnny Hicks; Deena Hicks and Brenda Hicks; and best friend and significant other, Harvey Renft.
So saddened to learn of Barb’s sudden passing. Praying she is finally reunited with Mike as that was what she always wanted. Chastity and Rusty, we know this is hard losing your Mom but hope you hold close to all the memories you have of her to give you comfort. Prayers for both of your families for comfort also.
Love and hugs, Uncle Ed and Aunt Loretta
So sad to hear about Barb. Barb was the first person we met in the neighborhood when we moved in right behind her. I don’t believe she ever met a stranger. She was so kind and gave us so much advice to help with our puppy over the last few years. I am thankful to have known her, even if it was such a short time. Harvey, please feel free to reach out to your backyard neighbor if you ever need anything. I only met a few family members, but she talked about her family whenever we were able to chat. Her family meant everything to her. Luna is going to miss her as well – Barb was always giving Luna treats over the fence. Prayers that you find comfort in your memories and celebrate the lovely woman Barb was.
Sincerely,
Paula Piette
