Charles Harold Codding, III, 76, of Kansas City, Mo passed away peacefully December 4, 2023.

He is survived by his wife Mary Codding of Kansas City, their two sons: David Charles (Carrie) of Kansas City, Mo and Jason Daniel (Lisa) of Liberty, Mo; a sister, Lilla Higdon of Fletcher, Okla; a brother, Harold Codding of Keller, Texas; five beloved grandchildren: Makenna Helen, Cole Charles, Blake Daniel, Carson June, and Austin James. His parents and stepmother Helen preceded him in death.

C.H. was born October 24, 1947 in Oklahoma City, Okla. to Charles H. and Viola W. Codding of Foraker, Okla. C.H. was raised on the Codding Cattle Research Ranch and had fine memories riding horses and working cattle. He met and dated his lifelong love, Mary Esther Harned in High School and graduated from Shidler High School in 1965. C.H. attended Oklahoma State University and received his undergraduate degree in Agricultural Economics and a Master’s of Science degree in Agricultural Economics. He was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and Alpha Zeta, Honorary Agricultural Society.

C.H. married Mary Esther Harned while attending OSU on March 25, 1967. He enlisted in the Oklahoma Army National Guard and spent summers training with the HHC 120 Engineer Battalion in 1968, serving until Nov 1974. C.H. also spent four summers selling Bible books in Florida, Indiana, Illinois and Michigan.

C.H. joined Oppenheimer Industries in Kansas City, Mo after graduation and spent a long and successful career in the cattle investment division negotiating cattle contracts, managing operations and marketing livestock. C.H. was a long-time member of the Liberty Christian Church, and had a strong faith and love for his Lord, his family and life long friends.

In 1996 C.H. and Mary moved from their home of 23 years in Liberty, Mo to Enid, Okla. when he took a CFO job at LeForce Land & Livestock, near Pond Creek Okla. C.H. had the opportunity to move back to Kansas City in 2005 and took a position with Cargill Animal Nutrition in finance where he worked until retiring in 2019.

In his retirement, C.H. enjoyed watching his grandkids grow, attending sporting and school events, and spending time with family and friends. C.H., like his father, was always quick to pick up a camera and document every aspect of life. This along with his warm smile and inquisitive mind will be greatly missed by all. May he rest in peace now that he is home with his Heavenly Father.

Carolyn Shatto, 67, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023.  Carolyn was born November 25, 1956 to William and Mary (Haggerty) Anastasio in Kansas City, MO.

Carolyn was born and raised in Kansas City, MO, she graduated from Center High School in 1975. After graduation she pursued a career as a Corporate Travel Agent with World span Travel in the Northland area. There were definitely some perks to her career in traveling; her favorite destination was Maui, Hawaii enjoying the sun and surf.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, completing jig-saw puzzles and working crossword puzzles in the newspaper.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.  She was a parishioner of St. Therese Catholic Church for several years.  Carolyn will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.

Carolyn is survived by her two sons: James Matthew Shatto and his wife Brittney; Jonathan “Jon” Shatto and his wife Ashley: two wonderful grandsons: Oliver and Camden; and a sister Anne Garber.  She was preceded in death by both parents, a sister Barbara Anastasio and a brother-in-law Sid Garber.

 

 

To honor John’s memory and celebrate a life well-lived, the family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 11, 2023 at Christ Lutheran Church, 6700 N.W. 72^nd Street, Platte Woods, MO. John Albert Groth, 85, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO entered his heavenly home on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at North Kansas City Hospital with his loving family by his side.

John was born August 14, 1938 to Clifford and Elsie (Grotke) Groth in Buffalo, New York. He was Lutheran by faith and a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church.  He was devoted to both his Lord and family.

John was married to the love of his life and God’s gift to him, Mary Kay Schwalenberg, on November 19, 1966 in Appleton, Wisconsin.

John spent the majority of his working career as a Sales Representative for Northwest Airlines and its predecessors. His love to serve was demonstrated in his work. His charm and charisma was recognized by everyone who encountered him.

John is most known for his love for daily bible reading, classical music, reading & working on crossword puzzles. His love for his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his brother, relatives and most of all his wife, Mary.  He will be remembered for his loud laugh and his ability to light up any room. He will be greatly missed for his sense of humor and love for others.

John is survived by his loving wife, Mary Groth; three children: Julie Ann Newberry (Rodney) of Atlanta, GA; Paul Christopher Groth (Kiaya) of Olathe, KS; Jennifer Lynn Brewer (Jason) of Kansas City, MO; eight grandchildren: Lauren (Newberry) Kinsella, Brandon Newberry, Joshua Newberry, Trinity Brewer, Khyler Brewer, Madison Brewer, Sophia Groth, Claira Groth; two great-grandchildren: Evelyn & Valerie Kinsella; an identical twin brother James Groth (Karen) of Greenville, SC.  He was preceded in death by both parents Clifford and Elsie Groth.

 

Brent Fulk Pulliam, 66, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully December 3, 2023, at the North Kansas City Hospital.  He was born June 25, 1957 in Kansas City to Charles S. and Esther Josephine (Fulk) Pulliam.  They preceded him in death.

Brent graduated from Park Hill High School and spent the majority of his career as a mechanic for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, where he retired in 2010.  Brent was of the Methodist faith and attended Platte Woods United Methodist Church as a young man.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Payette; and two brothers, Victor and Craig Pulliam.  Survivors include a sister, Sarah Kutz of Troy, KS; and his beloved nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been entrusted with the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville.  Brent’s family will celebrate his life privately.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Great Dane Rescue https://greatdanerescueinc.com.
