Arthur William Frye, 99, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 19, 2012.
He was born November 4, 1912 in Centerview, MO to Alvin and Cora Storms Frye and was the oldest of five children. He was home schooled until the eighth grade and then attended and graduated from Centerview High School in 1929 at the age of 16. He continued farming the family farm until 1938 when he then worked as an office manager for Jackson County. He married his sweetheart Violet Adams House in 1942. He served in the Naval Reserve during WW2 from 1942-1945 followed by an honorable discharge. He then went into the dairy business until 1963. He was in sales primarily in telecommunications until partial retirement at age 75. He successfully led the development of the family property on Adams Dairy Parkway until the age of 95 when all property was sold. For his 98th birthday he purchased a touch screen computer to allow him to keep up with communication, medical research and his investments.
He belonged to the First United Methodist Church in Blue Springs and was a long time Rotarian.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers Fred and Jim, sisters Marcella and Mary Lee, daughter Patricia House Hollinger Rose and beloved wife Violet Adams House Frye.
He is survived by his children Bill (Sally) House and “Tahn” Lyle Frye, 7 Grandchildren: Dee (Rick) Harmon, Debby (Steve) Spencer, Donna (Rich) Dakich, Denise House, Jeff Hollinger, Travis Frye, Tuanna (Daniel) Mays and 11 Great-Grandchildren who will miss him and his wisdom.
Visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2012 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Blue Springs with Services at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at the Blue Springs Cemetery. Remembrances may be given in lieu of flowers to the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs. The Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
