Ardith E. (Hambly) Dorris, 91, a resident of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully Thursday, November 10, 2022 at her home. She was born March 16, 1931 to Alfred Pearl and Martha Mae (Cozzens) Hambly in Colo, IA.
Ardith was united in marriage to Raymond A. Dorris on November 5, 1955 in Colo, IA. They moved to Broomfield, CO and raised two daughters, Elva Rae and Debra Jane both born in Boulder, CO. In 1973 the family moved to Blue Springs, MO. Ardith worked for several restaurants over the years, and also became employee of the year in Blue Springs. She loved to cook, enjoyed yard work, and helping her neighbors mow their yard and shovel snow, Ardith got her grandchildren to help her and they all had a ball. Ardith loved the people who she worked for and most of all she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her grandchildren to the moon, they were her greatest joy.
Survived by her daughter, Elva Rae Dorris of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren, Charles Andrew Johnson and wife Alana and their children, Alexander, Charlotte, Emersyn of Boston, MA, Raelynn Basney and husband Zack and their children, Logan, Danielle, of Liberty, MO; nephews, Craig Hambly, Doug Hambly, Jason Hambly, Shannon Hambly; niece, Shelley; former nieces-in-law, Janet and Wendy. Ardith is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Andrew Dorris; daughter, Debra Jane Dorris Johnson, parents, Alfred and Martha Hambly; siblings, Harlan Hambly, Carlton Hambly, Norris Hambly, Martha Jean Hough, Marilyhn Vanderlain, twin brother, Allen Hambly; Jane Heintz; nephews, Jim Hambly, Andy Hambly, Bradley Hambly; niece, Becky Dix.
Her family will receive family and friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2022 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St, Blue Springs, MO. Ardith will be laid to rest alongside her husband at 12:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. I will miss you very much mom. You have been the rock of this family and now you will join Dad and Debbie and the rest of your family. You will be miss by your Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
