Martha “Ann” York, 88, a lifelong Blue Springs resident, passed away Monday May 14, 2012. A Celebration of Ann’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Friday May 18, 2012 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel 1600 West Main St. Blue Springs, Mo. with the Reverend Choong-Ho Kwon officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Blue Springs Cemetery. Ann was born November 27, 1923 in Blue Springs, Mo. the daughter of Arthur and Georgia (Smith) Adams. She was married to J. Arnold York who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and had worked with her uncle at Adams Dairy. Ann and Arnold owned and operated York Lumber Yard for many years in Blue Springs and were charter members of Blue Springs Historical Society. She was also a member of 1st United Methodist Church of Blue Springs and the Sunnyside Urbanettes. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother George Adams and a sister Jane Waits.
Ann is survived by her nieces Martha Waits, and Sandy Murray and husband Mike; a nephew, Chuck Adams; great-nephew Kyle Murray and wife Sarah; and two great-nieces Kathleen Murray and Elizabeth Adams.
The family would like to thank the Waterford’s Ladies home and staff for the love and care they gave Ann for the last five years.
