Albert “Al” Vodopest of Gladstone, MO passed away May 14, 2014 at the age of 91. He was born in 1923 in Kansas City, KS to Antone and Mary Vodopest. He was the fourth child in a family of seven children.
Al graduated from Wyandotte High School and served our Nation in the Army Air Force during WWII, stationed in Europe. After the Service, he worked as a Stone Mason and Brick Layer before attending and graduating from Spartan in Tulsa, OK, earning his Airframe and Power-Plant license. He was employed by TWA in Kansas City, MO as an Aircraft Mechanic and an Inspector. He retired in 1984 after 33 years.
Al was active in the Catholic Church and was a member of St. Vincent DePaul for many years. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed the outdoors.
He leaves behind Kathryn Vodopest, his wife of 63 years; two sons, Christopher Vodopest and his wife, Barbara of Gladstone MO; Andrew Vodopest of St. Louis MO; his brother, Raymond Vodopest of Seattle WA; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9 – 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Meyers Northland Chapel, 401 Main St., Parkville, MO. The Rosary will be prayed at 11 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:30 a.m., St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 6415 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO with Rev. Vincent Rogers as celebrant.Burial with military honors will follow at Resurrection North Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church.
