Col (Ret. USAR) Norman A. Gosslee, age 87, passed away on August 8, 2015 after an illness of three years. He was born in Seattle, WA, the only child of Ned and Gladys Gosslee, who preceded him in death. Norm is survived by his wife, Helen, of the home; a son, Norman A. Gosslee of Everett, WA; and a daughter, Mary Gosslee of Durango, CO. He is also survived by four sons he claimed as his own; Bill, Jack (Deborah), David (Denise) of KC North, Tom Norton (Salle) of Collierville, TN; grandchildren, Jennifer, Keira, Kennedy, Tom, Chandler, Charles, David W., Eli, Hunter, Robert Norfleet, Jeffrey Gosslee, Autumn, Ryan and Aaron.
Norm was a graduate of the University of Washington and received his commission through ROTC. He began his military service at the onset of the Korean Conflict. In later years, he had his own insurance agency in Seattle, WA, and in between served several tours of active duty with the Army. In 1972, Norm attended Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. He and Helen married and moved to San Fransisco, CA.
Norm will be remembered for the fun and wit he shared with others. He never met a stranger and could light up a room with his big smile.
We want to thank the wonderful staff of Crossroads Hospice and the Seekers Class at the Platte Woods United Methodist Church, where he was a member, for all of their loving support.
A memorial service with military honors celebrating Norm’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville, where following the service, light refreshments will be served and memories of Norm will continue to be shared. Memorial contributions may be made to the choir at Platte Woods United Methodist or to Crossroads Hospice and may be left in care of the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville.
