Joy Ann Maass, 79, a resident of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs. She was born July 4, 1943 in Chicago, IL and was adopted by John and Edna (Sanders) Hrdlicka.
Joy was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Maass in March of 1962 in Chicago, IL. She worked as a travel agent for over 20 years. Chuck and Joy spent many years traveling the world together. Joy enjoyed cooking, making ceramics, counted cross stitch, tending her flowers, word searches, jig saw puzzles, and playing cards and Mexican train dominos with her friends at Heritage Farms in Blue Springs. She cherished all of her pets including Moose who will now take care of Chuck.
Survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Chuck Maass of Blue Springs, MO; daughter, Elisa Smith and husband Guy Beebe of Independence, MO. Joy is preceded in death by her parents, John and Edna Hrdlicka.
Her family will receive family and friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 26, 2022 at First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs, 301 S.W. Woods Chapel Rd, Blue Springs, MO. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Another Chance Cat Rescue, donations may be made at Donate (paypal.com) Burial will be held at the Lithuanian National Cemetery in Justice, IL at a later time.
