Funeral services have been set for Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville.  Visitation 1:00 p.m. with the Funeral Service commencing at 2:00 p.m.  Graveside Services and Burial will follow in the Platte City Cemetery.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter (F.O.P.A.S.).  Memories of Suzanne and condolences to the family may be shared at meyersfuneralchapel.com.

Suzanne Ragle, 74, of Parkville, MO passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 30, 2023 after a courageous fight with cancer. She was born July 6, 1949 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Palmer F. and Mildred “Lucille” Johnson Vanderburg.

She graduated high school in Hot Springs and later moved to Kansas City, MO where she lived the majority of her adult life. She had a long and rewarding career as an Account Representative for Sony and in Account Collections at Citi Bank. Suzanne made many lifelong friends during her time at both companies.

Suzanne was devoted to both her LORD and family and was a long-time and active member of the Platte Woods United Methodist Church. Family was most important to Suzanne. She had great days sightseeing in KC and Branson with her Sister Traca and Brother-In-Law Jim. She enjoyed volunteering at Park Hill School District with preschoolers. She was a Chiefs fan and often spoke about how she was on the “edge of her seat” during close games. She loved all animals, but dogs were her favorite. She had many dogs during her life and always treated them like her babies.

She was preceded in death by both parents and a brother Morgan Vanderburg. Survivors include her two beloved sons, Scott Bailey and Sean Bailey both of Kansas City, MO; two beloved grandchildren, Brennon and Breanna Bailey; a beloved sister, Traca Jones (Jim Jones) of Hot Springs, AR; and several beloved nephews and nieces.

Ronald Lowell Fanning, 72, of Omaha, NE formerly of Council Bluffs, IA passed away peacefully on August 28, 2023.  At the time of his passing, Ron was in Kansas City, under hospice care where he could be close to his daughters.  He was born July 27, 1951 in Council Bluffs to Clyde and Beulah (Watts) Fanning.

Ron graduated from Malvern High School in Iowa and earned an Associates Degree from Iowa Western Community College.  Ron had a long and rewarding career as an accountant for Charles Custom Furniture in Council Bluffs, where he retired in 2020.  He was very active within the Council Bluffs community, where he was a long-time member of the Optimist Club, and held several positions throughout the years.

Ron played an active role in his daughters lives and in earlier years helped coach their youth sports teams.  Both of Ron’s parents were deaf and he learned sign language at an early age.  Some of the teams he coached had children that were deaf, and he was very proud to help.  In his spare time he enjoyed following the Iowa Hawkeyes football team and watching other sports.  In addition, Ron cherished time spent with his grandsons and he had a wonderful sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marsha Lindeman.  Survivors include his two daughters, Janelle Leann Holland and husband Jon of Parkville, MO, and Rhonda Lynn Fanning of Austin, TX; two grandsons, Keighan (8) and Declan (6); and a beloved nephew, Kirk Wirth and wife, Kimberly.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Optimist Club of Council Bluffs.  Private services are planned.  Cremation arrangements have been entrusted with the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville, MO.  Memories of Ron and condolences may be shared at Meyersfuneralchapel.com.

 

All services will be held September 28, 2023. Rosary 9:45 a.m., Visitation 10:00 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church.  Fr. Mike Roach presiding.  A luncheon will follow the Mass downstairs in the Wooldridge Center at St. Therese.  The Committal Service and urn placement will take place 2:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Linda Sue Osterhaus, 76, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2023. She was born to the late William and Beverley Merciez on August 14, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, which she called home until 1960, when her family moved to Liberty, Missouri.  Here she attended St. Pius High School and Liberty High School.  After graduating high school, she worked at Burstein-Applebee where she met the love of her life, Alan Osterhaus.  They were married on October 20, 1973, in Kansas City, MO, where they have lived together for 50 years.  They became and remain members of St. Therese Parish, a source of faith and strength over the years.

Linda fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a mother, having five children: Jason, Jessica, Sarah, Laura, and Michael.  Throughout her years raising children, she was devoted to her children, often running her children to sports practices and events and cheering them on from the stands. Once all her children started school, she began working at St. Therese Early Education Center.  She worked at the STEEC and helped care for many children over 12 years until her cancer diagnosis in 2005.  She bravely battled many rounds of cancer treatments over the last 18 years, becoming a favorite patient to many nurses and doctors. She handled her diagnosis with strength and grace while continuing to be a wonderful friend, an amazing mother, and grandmother to two granddaughters, Aubrey and Hayden.  Linda fought courageously until she was called home on August 25, 2023.

Linda was a loving, faith-filled, caring, compassionate woman, mother, daughter, and friend who loved with all her heart.  She enjoyed reading, crosswords, Sunday breakfast with family and friends, and sharing life with everyone she loved.  She will be greatly missed and celebrated every day.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Merciez, and mother and father-in-law.

Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Alan Osterhaus; children; Jason (Clara) Osterhaus, Jessica Osterhaus, Sarah (Matthew) Neal, Laura Osterhaus, and Michael Osterhaus;  grandchildren Aubrey and Hayden Neal; grand dogs; her cousins; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces, and nephews.

Dr. Michael William Farrar passed on August 23, 2023.  Michael was born on March 3, 1955 to William L. and Velma L. Farrar in Lawrence, Kansas. He is survived by both parents.

Michael excelled at everything he did. He achieved his Eagle Scout designation before many his age, and was recognized as a Shaman of the Mic-O-Say Tribe, a meaningful tradition to scouting and the Kansas City community.

Michael graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1973.  Despite his inherited and lifelong love for the KU Jayhawks, he attended the UMKC School of Medicine as its first accepted Northlander.

Michael was a founding member of Northland Cardiology (now Meritas Cardiology) with North Kansas City Hospital (NKCH), where he worked for over 30 years. He gave his heart and soul to the people of the Northland, serving the hospital at every turn, including as President of Medical Staff. Unquestionably though, his love for medicine paled in comparison to his love of being “Gramps” to his beautiful granddaughter, Norah.

Michael is also survived by his wife Angela; his daughter Kate Donaldson and her husband Clint, and their daughter, Norah; his sister Vicki Thompson and her husband Joe; his sister Karen English and her husband Brad; and his nephews Andrew Bischoff, Joel Bischoff, Alex Beal, and Jack Beal.

Mike was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Scott, and daughter, Kelly Christine.
