Carolina Huggins

Carolina Gabriella Huggins, 93, a longtime resident of Parkville, MO.  and parishioner of St. Therese Catholic Church passed away peacefully Friday, July 31, 2020 at NorthCare Hospice.

Carolina was born November 26, 1926 to Martino and Erminia (Lauritano) Acampora in Bronx, NY.

After graduating from high school and completing her business writing certificate,  Carolina worked as a secretary for a shipping company in New York.  She met a Merchant Marine, Arthur R. Huggins on the shipping dock.  After a wonderful courtship they were united in marriage on November 29, 1947 at St. Patricks Cathedral in New York City, New York. [Read more…]

Lindal Kirkland

Lindal Dean Kirkland, 60, a resident of Grain Valley, MO passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020 in Lee’s Summit, MO.  He was born January 28, 1960 to Earl and Anna (Campbell) Kirkland in Mountain Home, AR.

Lindal was a High School graduate and spent 20 years as a KFC manager.  He was engaged to be married to Michelle Spaethe.  Lindal enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, making jewelry, bird watching, and gardening.  Above all he enjoyed helping people, he would take care of Michelle’s mother every morning.

Survived by his fiancé, Michelle Spaethe of Grain Valley, MO; daughter, Davin Kirkland of Gassville, AR; former wife and mother of Davin, Ladonna Kirkland of Gassville, AR .  Michelle’s family that became his family.  Lindal is preceded in death by his father, Earl Kirkland; mother, Anna Wilhm; step-father, Joseph Wilhm Sr.; sister, Melissa Kirkland; brother, Joseph Wilhm Jr.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs.  Memories of Lindal and words of comfort for his family may be shared at meyersfuneralchapel.com.

Elaine Bowers, 87, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 30, 2020 at The Gardens at Barry Road with her family by her side. Elaine A. Bowers was born September 20, 1932 in Cedar Rapids, IA to Helen and Pete Chiafos.  She grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and graduated from McKinley High School. [Read more…]

Dixie E. Hudson Kendrick, 77, passed away, Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at St. Luke’s East Hospital, Lee’s Summit, MO. She was born May 16, 1943, in Kansas City, MO.

If I could use one word to describe Dixie, it would be “LOVE.” Dixie had such a deep love of her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her life. Dixie was a very good friend to many. All that met her loved her because she cared, and she would be there with a listening ear. Dixie strived to make the world a better place with her love, laughter, compassion, and care of others above herself. Loretta is a Kansas City Northland native and has played a key role in the success of the Meyers Northland location. On October 24, 2022 Loretta was promoted and named manager of our Northland location. Loretta and her husband Cade live in Kansas City, MO. She has two sons, Nigel and Ian. Loretta is enrolled in the Leadership Northland Class with the Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the KCI Rotary Club.
