Marjorie “Hazel” Hasselteen Rumbo, 99, a resident of Independence, MO passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at the Independence Manor Care Center in Independence, MO.  She was born February 24, 1920 in Oak Grove, MO to Frank and Kay (Herrington) McQuerry.

Hazel graduated from Grain Valley High School in 1938.  She was united in marriage to William Rumbo September 14, 1938 in Buckner, MO.  Hazel was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs for 72 years.  She watched 3 year olds during church services.  Hazel enjoyed quilting, sewing, playing bingo and cards.

Survived by her daughter, Eleanor A. Park (Wilbur) of Independence, MO; son, Loye R. Rumbo (Joan) of Harrisonville, MO; sister, Rebecca M. Leath of Liberty, MO; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren.  Hazel is preceded in death by her husband, William Rumbo, parents, Frank and Kay McQuerry; siblings, Erma Hay, Norman McQuerry, R.C. McQuerry; granddaughter, Sherri Rumbo.

The family will receive friends and family from 10-11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2019 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St, Blue Springs, MO.  Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will follow at the Blue Springs Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs, Independence Manor Care Center, or Crossroads Hospice.  Memories of Hazel and words of comfort for her family may be shared at meyersfuneralchapel.com.

Michael Dean Drury, 62, of Blue Springs, Mo passed away December 30, 2019. Funeral services are 10:00 am Friday January 3rd at Meyers Blue Springs Chapel. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday January 2nd at the chapel, the rosary will be said at 5:00 pm. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Michael was a graduate of Archie High School in 1975, and Central Missouri State University in 1979. He married the love of his life, Debra Brookshire on August 21, 1981. Michael was a National Bank Examiner for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for over 30 years. Gary Sherm Godsy, 54, a resident of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully Monday, December 30, 2019 in Lee’s Summit, MO.  He was born October 6, 1965 to Sherman and Barbara “Nadine” (Davis) Godsy in Kansas City, MO.

Gary graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1984.  He worked for Mirror Lake’s Fishing in Lee’s Summit, MO and at the Lake Jacomo waterslide. Gary enjoyed taking photos, fishing, playing the guitar and listening to a variety of music. [Read more…]

Kathleen Jean Lynch, 49, of Independence, Missouri passed away December 28, 2019. Services are private. Memorial contributions are suggested to Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, 239 Turpentine Creek Lane, Eureka Springs, AR. 72632.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her father, Jack Lynch. Survivors include her son, Tyler Lynch, mother, Jane Lynch, and brother, Jerry Lynch.
