Marjorie “Hazel” Hasselteen Rumbo, 99, a resident of Independence, MO passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at the Independence Manor Care Center in Independence, MO. She was born February 24, 1920 in Oak Grove, MO to Frank and Kay (Herrington) McQuerry.
Hazel graduated from Grain Valley High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to William Rumbo September 14, 1938 in Buckner, MO. Hazel was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs for 72 years. She watched 3 year olds during church services. Hazel enjoyed quilting, sewing, playing bingo and cards.
Survived by her daughter, Eleanor A. Park (Wilbur) of Independence, MO; son, Loye R. Rumbo (Joan) of Harrisonville, MO; sister, Rebecca M. Leath of Liberty, MO; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren. Hazel is preceded in death by her husband, William Rumbo, parents, Frank and Kay McQuerry; siblings, Erma Hay, Norman McQuerry, R.C. McQuerry; granddaughter, Sherri Rumbo.
The family will receive friends and family from 10-11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2019 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St, Blue Springs, MO. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will follow at the Blue Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs, Independence Manor Care Center, or Crossroads Hospice.
