Winifred Ethel Strahan, 101 passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 in Parker, KS. She was born March 21, 1912 in Lee’s Summit, MO to Lewis and Nellie (Parson) Perdue.  She was united in marriage to Clyde Strahan who preceded her in death.  She taught school, 5^th grade, in Raytown and Blue Springs schools.  She was a member of First Christian Church of Blue Springs, and Eastern Star.  She enjoyed quilting, planting flowers, watching birds and the Kansas City Royals. In addition to her husband Clyde, she was preceded in death by her parents; nephew, Billy Ray Sims; and five siblings. [Read more…]

Lea A. Hoffman, 52, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 at her home. She was born January 7, 1961 in Kansas City, MO to Charles M. and Joanne M. (Mayer) Williams. Her father preceded her in death on June 19, 2011.  [Read more…]

Dee M. Smith, 88, of Blue Springs, MO passed away at his residence on August 28, 2013.  He was born on April 6, 1925 to Thomas and Rosetta (Mitchell) Smith in Morris, Kansas.

On June 23, 1967 he was united into marriage with Lula Johnson.  Dee served in the United States Navy from March 1943 to February 1946.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 499 in Blue Springs, MO.  He was a member of Mount Washington Baptist Church in Independence, MO.  Dee worked as a Machine Operator for Grasis Corporation in Kansas City, MO for many years.  One of Dee’s favorite activities was reading books.  He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather.
