Nelson O. Slavens, 91, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the NorthCare Hospice House. Nelson was born January 19, 1921 to Clara E. (Campbell) and John Noah Slavens in Harrison, AR.
Nelson served in the United States Army. He lived in Kansas City, KS for 25 years and 22 years in the Northland. Nelson was a Brick Mason for Goeking Construction for the majority of his working career. [Read more…]

Charles Lynwood Booker, 68, of Grain Valley, MO passed away November 8, 2012 at Centerpoint Medical Center. He was born August 25, 1944 in Cairo, IL to Charles and Eva Booker. Vincent P. Heegn Jr., 75, of Independence, Mo., passed away November 6, 2012. He was born in Kansas City and attended St .Michael’s Church and school. He graduated from Lillis High School, Class of 1955. Vincent served in the Missouri National Guard for eight years. He was a Master Journeyman Electrician and a proud member of IBEW #124 since 1958, and completed the four years apprenticeship. He worked for many of the electrical contractors in the area until he retired in 1999. In 1959 he married his wife of 53 years, Catherine (Allen). [Read more…]
