James Wesley Copeland, 75, a resident of Parkville, MO passed away March 7, 2018, at the NorthCare Hospice House. He was born July 27, 1942 in Springfield, MO to Everett Murial and Eugenia (Snider) Copeland.
Jim graduated from Lee’s Summit High School and earned a BA in Business from the University of Missouri Kansas City. He became an entrepreneur as a young man, and most recently owned C&W Enterprises. Jim was also proud of the six years he served in the Missouri National Guard.
Jim’s family was most important to him. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time at Table Rock Lake and working around the family farm. In earlier years, he was very active in 4-H and various farm related activities. Jim had a passion for collecting Pueblo art.
He married Cynthia Ann Major in January of 1965. In addition to Cyndy, survivors include a daughter, Valerie Sue Jahraus and husband, Jonathan of Parkville, MO; a son, David Wesley Copeland and wife, Jennifer of Parkville, MO; a brother, David “Terry” Copeland and wife, Kay of Raytown, MO; and three grandchildren, Seth Jahraus, Sofia Jahraus and Wesley Copeland.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate and honor Jim’s life from 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society and may be left in care of the funeral home, 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152.
