He was the youngest of fourteen children. To his many nieces and nephews he was known as “Uncle Ducky” because he delighted in entertaining them with his impression of Donald Duck.
He enjoyed camping and fishing at Kentucky Lake, KY and league bowling for many years. Travel was one of his favorite past times. He loved Alaska, Yellowstone National Park and Ireland. Many family trips were made to Florida and he introduced his children and grandchildren to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park which is now one of their favorite travel destinations. He was known as an avid fisherman and spent hours fishing and cruising on his pontoon boat on Fort Loudon Lake, Knoxville, TN. Eating was another great pleasure and he never turned down an opportunity to eat out at O’Charley’s or Cracker Barrel.
His church family at Karns Church of Christ was very important to him and he served there as an Elder for seven years. He was known for his teasing and sense of humor, his generous heart and love for God.
He only had a high school education, but he excelled in his chosen profession of plastic extrusion engineering. His job brought him to Kansas City, MO where he worked for Variform Plastics for ten years, then to Iowa and finally Knoxville, TN where he worked for Plexco. Following his tenure there he co-founded American Plastic Profiles. Retirement came in 2001.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Ann and two daughters, Andrea (Marty) Nelson and Michele (Jay) Williams; Eight Grandchildren, Erin, Lindsay, Kyle, Reilly, Presley, Myah, Kenzie and Alex; and Two Great Grandchildren, Kinley and Braxton; and a sister, Juanita Hinton of Hopkinsville, KY; and many nieces and nephews.
