Robert Christopher Groh, 49, of Raymore, MO passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2018, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Interstate 35 in Osage County, KS. Robb had stopped to help another driver whose car had slid off the Interstate and flipped over. Both Robb and the other driver were then hit by another car which had slid off the road. Robb was killed and the other driver sustained serious injuries.
Robb was born October 30, 1968 in Rochester, NY to Robert Michael and Bettina Franke Groh.
Robb graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1986. He attended the University of Missouri in Kansas City and Columbia and earned a BA in Business.
After graduating from college, he went to work at QuikTrip and worked there for over 25 years – he started in Kansas City in the stores then transferred to the Atlanta Division (Atlanta, GA) where he worked in the Travel Centers then Marketing and then became Manager of the new Kitchen facility there. After several years, he was moved to Tulsa, OK for several years to head up the QT Kitchen facility there and then moved again – returning to the Kansas City area several years ago and was currently serving as the area manager for QuikTrip Kitchens in Belton, MO.
Robb was a life time member of the Boy Scouts of America. He started out in Cub Scouts and progressed through Boy Scouts. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 1986 from Troop 813 in Blue Springs. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow, Scoutings National Honor Society.
In his spare time, he had a passion for video games, working with wood, and model cars. Robb was of the Catholic faith and he particularly cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
Survivors include his parents, Bob and Bettina Groh of Blue Springs, MO; and two sisters, Laurel Groh and husband, Steve Dehnert of Oak Grove, MO, and Carolyn Holmes and husband, Paul of Blue Springs, MO; and his niece, Lili Holmes and his nephew, Dominic Holmes. He also leaves an extended family spread all over the US.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Robb’s life on Friday, February 23, 2018, at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St., Blue Springs, MO. Visitation will be held from 1:30-3:00 p.m. with a service celebrating his life commencing at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Phoenix Family in Kansas City, Wayside Waifs, or the Boy Scouts of America and may be left in care of the funeral home.
