A service celebrating Larry’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday January 20th at Meyer’s Northland Chapel, 401 Main Street in Parkville. Visitation will precede the celebration 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery. Nelda Von Horton, 91, a Northland resident in Kansas City, MO passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at the St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City. She was born October 30, 1926 in Twin Falls, ID to Thomas and Cora (Lynch) Bridges.
Nelda graduated from Commerce High School in Commerce, OK, and she later attended Graceland College in Lamoni, IA. Nelda spent the majority of her working years as an accountant. Some of the businesses she worked for were Coca Cola Bottling in California and Herald Publishing House in Independence, MO. She finished her career working for the Internal Revenue Service. Mary Angelina Shaffer, 78, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully on January 11, 2018 at the St. Luke’s North Hospital on Barry Road. She was born November 10, 1939 in Kansas City to Phillip and Elizabeth (Carter) DeGrace.
Mary enjoyed reading her Bible, doing crossword puzzles, knitting, planting flowers and listening to her favorite music. She loved visits from her family especially her Grand children and Great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rosalie DeGrace; and two brothers, Nicholas DeGrace and Phillip Anthony DeGrace. Survivors include her only daughter, Mary Frances Ward and her husband, Tom of Omaha, NE; a sister, Betty DeGrace (DiGraci) of Kansas City, MO; a special niece, Angelique DiGraci of Kansas City, MO; and numerous extended family members and close friends. Dorothy Jane Mowery, 94, Oak Grove, MO formally of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2018.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Timothy Lutheran Church, 425 N.W. RD Mize Rd, Blue Springs, MO, a visitation will be an hour prior to service. Burial will follow at the Blue Springs Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Timothy Lutheran Church.
