Verlan Trent (V.T.) Stockton, 85, a resident of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2018. He was born October 14, 1932 in rural Putnam County, MO to Owen “Clell” and Maude (Trent) Stockton.
On June 28, 1953 he married Sara A. Klinginsmith. To this union three children were born: Sara Louise (Susie) Stockton Kirchhoff, Verlan Ray (Butch) Stockton and Sherri Lea Stockton Lozano. He had five grandchildren: Daniel Kirchhoff, Kyle Kirchhoff, Angela Kirchhoff Wessel, Alyssa Lozano and Joshua Stockton and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Sara A. Stockton; and his parents; infant sister, Lois Irene Stockton.
V.T. was a very devoted Christian and always worked hard for his church. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a battle field engineer. V.T. worked at Sears as a service manager for 25 years and later for Johnstone Supply for 15 years. V.T. loved farming, showing cattle, fishing and wood working. He was a former Commander of DAV, member of the VFW Post 630 and Elks Lodge #2509 both in Blue Springs.
The family will receive friends from 10 – 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the First Christian Church of Blue Springs, 701 NW 15th Street, Blue Springs, MO. Funeral service will start at 11:00 a.m., at the church. A Committal service will follow at 1:00 p.m., at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
