Eve was a true child of the depression having gone through hard times only to rise above it all to earn a college degree, teach for many years at the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired and raise a family she was very proud of. Vocal music was always a touchstone for Eve’s and, when she entered college at Kansas State university in 1946, little did she know just how big a role it would play in shaping the rest of her life. In her sophomore year at Kansas State while singing in the acapella choir, Eve met the love of her life, Fred. Eve and Fred’s K-State ties would last a lifetime with football games on Saturday’s, where they would meet and enjoy old friends. Eve and Fred were married in 1950 and spent their earlier years living in several small towns in Kansas while Fred advanced his career in civil engineering. Their last move was to Kansas City, a place they would call home for the rest of their lives. Eve worked as a house wife until the kids were older, as which point she found employment with the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired. Working with young children in need became a passion for Eve and, her teaching career at CCVI spanned two decades. After retirement Eve and Fred spent many quality hours with their kids and grandkids and became passionate travelers, vacationing in Iceland, Scotland, France, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Hawaii and Alaska. After Fred’s passing in 2009, Eve spent her final years at McCrite Plaza near the Briarcliff area in Kansas City North. Here she was beloved by many friends, participating in the McCrite choir, community social events and long hours of playing bridge. Watching K-State games on TV with her kids was always a special time for Eve and together cheering the Cats on to victory, less than a week before her passing.
She is survived by six siblings: her sisters Joyce, Betty, Pat and Kathleen and, her brothers Bob and Tom. Children: Kris Kramer and wife Connie; Carol (Kramer) Rauscher and husband Bob and Nancy (Kramer) Bovee and husband Greg.
