Wilbert Cecil Cordray, Jr., 70, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully Thursday, June 29, 2017 with his family by his side. Cecil was born January 31, 1947 in Jackson, MS to Wilbert Cecil and Dorothy Pearl (White) Cordray, Sr.
Cecil spent the majority of his working career as a hod carrier; he retired from JE Dunn Construction. Cecil was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved to travel and watch old Western movies. He will be remembered as an amazing grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Eric. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Linchen (Kromer) Cordray of Kansas City, MO; a daughter, Debra Tunks (Brian) of Lee’s Summit, MO; a son, Eric Cordray (Angie) of Lathrop, MO; four grandchildren: Alex and Andrea Tunks ; Katelyn and Emily Cordray; his father, Wilbert Cecil Cordray, Sr. of Gallatin, MO; and a brother, Floyd Cordray of Maysville, MO.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 6:30 p.m., Friday, July 7, 2017 at Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville, MO. A service celebrating Cecil’s life will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the chapel.
