Jim Miller, 70, of rural Buchanan County, Missouri passed away June 28, 2017. Memorial services are 12:30 p.m. on Saturday July 15th at Harmony Vineyard Church, with visitation 11:00 – 12:30 prior to services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Mosaic Life Care Hospice, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Harmony Vineyard Church or United Service Organization (U.S.O.)
Jims early childhood was spent in Cosby, Missouri, Amarillo, Texas, Albuquerque, New Mexico, St. Joseph, Missouri and Kansas City, Missouri. He was a 1965 graduate of Park Hill High School, and graduate of Central Missouri State University in 1974 following serving his country as an Army veteran of Vietnam. While serving Jim received the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Jim worked at Montgomery Ward until they closed their regional office, and began his career with the United States Department of Agriculture than spanned 30 years. He was a member of Harmony Vineyard Church, and the Gladstone Stamp Club. Jim enjoyed being a farmer, taking care of his horses, loved spending time with his family especially the grandchildren, and helping others. Jim truly enjoyed golfing and was fortunate to play several years in the Midwest Minister Fellowship Golf Tournament.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Elizabeth (Roberts) Miller , and his brother in law, Patrick Depping. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Janet Miller, children, Tracy (Dave) Thornburg, Matthew (Jennifer) Miller, sisters, Bette (John) Guarino, Jane Depping, 2 grandchildren, Thomas, Brianna, and niece Laura Guarino.
