James K. “Jim” Hoel, 74, of Blue Springs, MO passed away May 4, 2017 in his home. Jim was born on August 1, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the oldest of three sons born to the late Jesse Adrian Hoel Jr. and Maud LaBarr Hoel. Jim was a 1960 graduate of East High School, and he attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity.
Jim began working at a very young age, and he was never afraid of hard work. Most of his career was spent in the field of information technology retiring from Haldex of Blue Springs in 2001.
Jim married Ruth Ann Steele on December 7, 1967, and to this union were born two sons, David Christopher Hoel and Stephen Michael Hoel. He loved spending time with his boys and working with them on projects. On May 25, 1979, Jim married Marie Annette Roberts, and shared a wonderful 37 years together. They enjoyed traveling, life at the lake, and spoiling their many dogs. Jim was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs.
Jim was proceeded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his wife Annette Hoel of the home; son David and wife Stephanie of Chillicothe, MO; son Stephen and wife Heather of Warrensburg, MO; two grandsons, Nathan Hoel and Daniel Hoel of Chillicothe, MO; brother Don Hoel and wife Linda of Excelsior Springs, MO; brother Lanny Hoel and wife Janet of Gurnee, IL; nephew Christopher Hoel and wife Katelyn of Chicago, IL; and niece Emily Scheer and husband Josh of Lander, WY.
Memorial services for Jim will be held at 10:30 am Monday, May 8, 2017 at First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs, 301 SW Woods Chapel, Blue Springs, MO.
