Robert Leeland Danley Sr., 67, of Blue Springs, MO peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was born to George F. and Ida E. (Gilham) Danley on June 8, 1949 in Camden, NJ.
Bob was united in marriage to his one and only true love, his bride, Ruth Ann Turner on August 16, 1969 in Franklinville, NJ. In 1973 he took a chance on a little company with big plans (Harmon Industries) and moved to Blue Springs, MO. Who could have known what a great decision on both sides that turned out to be. He faithfully worked with the company, eventually becoming Vice President of Product Management. He dedicated his life to working hard and providing for his family. He mentored many throughout his career and we know his legacy will carry on. His career took him to many places, however, his favorite was his time spent in Australia, most likely because he was able to take his bride with him. Bob retied working at Quest Rail in Wellington, MO, although we just found out he never really officially retired but was moved to part time status….if you know Bob, you know he was no quitter! He enjoyed work and took great pride in it.
Bob was a man of few words but they were always wise, well thought out words. He was humble, giving, sincere, honest and dedicated. The people that were fortunate to know Bob all loved him and always had nothing but kind words to say about him. On his rare time off Bob enjoyed being with his family. Taking trips, cruising around on his pontoon, sipping Merlot and loving on his wife. He adored his family and beamed with pride whenever he talked about them, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Danley; son, Robert Danley Jr. (Angela); daughter, Rylina Danley-Thomasee (James) all of Blue Springs, MO; brother, George Danley (Lin) of Florida; sisters, Betty Danley (Valarie) of Pennsylvania, Grace Pio(Joe) of New Jersey; grandchildren, Abbey, Libby, Bradley, Laura, Rachael, and Bryten and his dog Cupcake. He is preceded in death by his parents and his first Grandson Cooper “the Trooper”, who obviously took after his Pop.
The family will receive friends from 5-6:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St., Blue Springs, MO. Memorial service will start at 6:00 p.m., at the chapel.
