Jack D. Simmons, 84, an Independence, MO resident passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016 at his home. He was the son of Marvin and Fannie (Jones) Simmons and was born on June 17, 1932.
Jack graduated from Armstrong High School in 1950. He worked on the family farm and at a local service station before taking a job at Deatherage and Moon a Dodge Plymouth dealership in Fayette, MO. Jack was united in marriage with Juanita Hunsaker on January 31, 1958 in Kansas City, MO. After moving to Kansas City Jack worked for Schneider Ford and ended his automotive career at Thoroughbred Ford retiring in 1994. Jack was a member of the Eastgate Christian Church in Independence, MO as well as a member of the District Lodge #71 “IAM” International Automotive Machinist.
Survivors include wife, Juanita Simmons of Independence, MO; daughters, Jennifer Simmons of Lake of the Ozarks, Janet Pereira (Victor) Liberty, MO, Judith Faries (Darrell) of St. Louis, MO; brother, Melvin Simmons of Armstrong, MO; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Vonda Beard, Margaret Liberty; brother, Marvin Simmons.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted with the Meyers Blue Springs Chapel. There will be an inurnment at the Evergreen Cemetery in Camp Point, IL at a later date. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Eastgate Christian Church or Shriners Children’s Hospital.
