Glenn E. Allmon, 88, of Blue Springs, MO passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016 at his residence. He was born March 1, 1927 in Kansas City, KS to Amos and Verna (Weast) Allmon. On August 16, 1947 he was united in marriage to Dorothy (Hardy) Allmon whom preceded him in death. Glenn taught Industrial and Fine Arts at Van Horn High School in Independence, MO for several years. He was a longtime parishioner at St. John LaLande Catholic Church in Blue Springs, MO. Glenn was a WWII veteran who served his country as a U.S. Navy Seabee in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He enjoyed feeding and watching birds and squirrels, animals of all kinds, painting, singing, history and studying maps. His greatest enjoyment came from being around his family and friends.
He is survived by sons, Doug (Michele) Allmon of Blue Springs, MO, Jon (Harriet) Allmon of St. Peters, MO, Bryce (Cheryl) Allmon of Knoxville, TN; daughter-in-law Mary Allmon of San Antonio, TX; brother, Arlen (Judy) Allmon of Santé Fe, N.M.; sister, JoAnn (Bob) Newman of Ironton, MO; 10 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; son, Aaron Allmon; grandchild, Becki McQuitty; parents; and three siblings.
The family will receive friends from 10 – 11:00 am, Friday, February 5, 2016 at St. John LaLande Catholic Church, 805 NW R.D. Mize Rd., Blue Springs, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m., at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
