Charles Hubert Richey, 89, Independence, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Blue Hills Rest Home.
“Charlie” was born on March 8, 1925 to Charles and Alice Richey of Independence. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Marie Richey and siblings John and Clarence Richey. Charlie leaves four children, Terry Richey of Virginia, Gary Richey of Oklahoma, Sharon Tinney of Blue Springs and Sandy Turner, Independence, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Charlie proudly served his country as a Bombardier for the Army Air Forces during World War II. After returning home from the service he enrolled and graduated from Finley Engineering College. Charlie owned Richey Construction Company and was instrumental in the development of many major roadways in Independence as well as in Sugar Creek. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and VFW.
Graveside services with military honors for Charles will be at 10:00 am, Friday, October 3, 2014 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Business Route 13 North, Higginsville, MO. Memories of Charles and condolences for the family may be shared at www.meyersfuneralchapel.com.
