Dorothy Jean Allmon, 86, of Blue Springs, MO passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born February 2, 1928 in Novelty, MO to Herschel and Reca (McQuary) Hardy. On August 16, 1947 she was united in marriage to Glenn Allmon and he survives at the home. She taught Art and Music at Pilot Knob and Iron Mountain, MO schools and later became a full time homemaker. She was a member of St. John LaLande Catholic Church.
She enjoyed photography, painting, making holiday cards, and wrote the first music qualifications in Iron County. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Aaron Allmon, and a sister, Mary Francis Ritter (Sanford).
In addition to her husband Glenn, she is survived by sons, Doug (Michele) Allmon of Blue Springs, MO, Jon (Harriet) Allmon of St. Peters, MO, Bryce (Cheryl) Allmon of Knoxville, TN; daughter-in-law Mary Allmon of San Antonio, TX; brother, James (Nancy) Hardy of Acworth, GA; sisters, Ruth (Edward) Schmelzel of Scottsdale, AZ, Juanita “Bonnie” (Don) Blanckaert of Woodlands, TX; grandchildren, Jason (Kristy) Rinne of Imperial, MO, Lisa (LeRoy) Roper of Canyon Lake, TX, Jennifer (Sam) Gilliland of Lee’s Summit, MO, Christian (Carmen) Allmon of San Antonio, TX, Aaron (Sarah) Allmon II of Honolulu, HI, Becki (Clint) McQuitty of Junction City, KS, Stephanie Allmon of Blue Springs, MO, Samantha (Steven) Richardson of Cibolo, TX, Ashley (Jeremy) Craft of Hebron, KY, Alex Allmon of Burlington, KY, Brett Allmon of Knoxville, TN; great grandchildren, J. Todd, Aaron III, Gunner, Kacie, Sidney, Mason, Cailey, Seth, Lia, Kinsey, Isabel, Christian G., Nicolas, Peter, Astella, Cole, Gavin, Jake and Avery.
Visitation for Dorothy will be 9:30 am, Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at St. John LaLande Catholic Church, 805 NW R.D. Mize Rd., Blue Springs, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be at 1:00 pm at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Contributions in memory of Dorothy may be made to Wayside Waifs, Kansas City, MO.
