James A. Russell, 71, of Independence, MO passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 in Independence, MO. He was born to Don and Ora (Gove) Russell on August 12, 1942 in Watsonville, CA.
James was united into marriage to Berta Enga on November 8, 1964 in Inglewood; CA. James worked as an assembler at General Motors for 39 years and retired from there in 2001. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Association local 31. He attended San Jose, CA Bible College. James was a member of Blue Springs Assembly. He enjoyed gospel music, church, and his bible. His greatest love was his family and friends.
Along with wife Berta Russell who survives of the home, other surviors include daughters, Jeannette Stecker (Richard) of Odessa, MO, Deborah Ickes of Independence, MO, Naomi LaRusch Moreland of Independence, MO; brother Glenn Russell (Linda) of Turner, Oregon; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs, MO. Funeral Services for James will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday January 26, 2014 at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow immediately at the Brookings Cemetery in Raytown, MO.
