William L. Carr, 93, of Gravois Mills, MO passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, December 27, 2013 in Springfield, MO. He was born to John W. Carr and Mary A. (Masters) Carr on November 23, 1920 in Jackson County, MO. William was united into marriage with Dorothy L. Watts on August 30, 1942 in Jackson County, MO.
William was self-employed as a dump truck driver in Gravois Mills, MO for many years. He served as the Road Commissioner in Gravois Mills, MO. William served in the United States Army as well as in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Mason lodge in the Buckner, MO, VFW post 1000 in Independence, MO, American Legion in Versailles, MO and the Disabled American Veterans in Springfield, MO. William loved being around his family and friends.
William is survived by his son, Ron (Deborah) Carr of Springfield, MO; sisters, Ann (Frank) Friend of Creighton, MO, Diane Krause of Independence, MO; brother, Danny Carr of Grain Valley, MO; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, “Louise” Carr; son, John D. Carr; daughter, Patricia E. Truman; parents, John W. and Mary A. Carr.
Visitation will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Meyers Funeral Chapel 1600 W. Main St. Blue Springs, MO. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will follow with military honors at the Blue Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Reviving Hope.
